Continuing my journey with Rabbie’s – we visited 4 other places before heading back to London. To be honest, I don’t recall the names of the places (especially not after a year) but I still remember how beautiful and tranquil the places were. Absolutely loved the places and pace of it!
Kevin was picking us up at 9am so we had to have our breakfast and get ready by then. I was up around 8am so I could slowly enjoy my breakfast, take a quick walk around the neighbourhood before saying goodbye. It was a little sad I didn’t get to explore Cirencester much as most of the shops were close by the time we arrive the day before.
Breakfast at The Old Bungalow Guest House I was staying was awesome! It was cooked by Hannah and Gary and tasted fantastic. There was a mini area for fruit juice, water, cereals, yoghurts & fruit salad. For the main, you get to choose! And naturally, I go for a full English Breakfast. And yes, I took a picture with one of the hosts, Hannah. Thanks for the wonderful stay and for being so welcoming :) Highly recommended for those to stay there when you’re in Cirencester!
When 9am arrives, it was time to say goodbye! We headed for the itinerary of the day – Bibury, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bampton & Oxford. First stop – Bibury! Bibury was really beautiful with the cottages built along the rivers and the trees, really quaint and nice. I even manage to see the ducks swimming and bobbing their heads up and down in the river – it was quite cute (haha).
And then, after the short 30 minutes or so in Bibury, we headed to our next place: Stow-on-the-Wold, a hilltop marketplace that has lots of local shops. I bought two mini-sheep plushies, one for me and another for my bestie; a pouch; a postcard that I sent home in the same town. We had about an hour or so here so that was what I pretty much did – walking around, taking photos. It was a pity I didn’t get to drink tea, enjoy scones in a tea shop – it looks really cute and antique as well!
After the market, it was time to finally head to Oxford! Before we reach there, we did a stop at Bampton which was the filming place for Downtown Abbey. I have heard of the show but never watched it before so couldn’t really relate to it. This was the only shot I took before we walked down a nature path where Kevin briefly shared on the history of this place.
Oxford was one of the places I was looking forward to – mainly because of Harry Potter. I was excited to be visiting some of the filming sites in the show. When we alighted in the area, I was pretty taken aback by how crowded it is as compared to the other places I’ve been in the tour. It was a buzzing city with heaps of students (duh?!).
We only had about 2 hours in the area before heading back to London so I had to choose wisely (once again) on the locations to go to. Naturally, I opted for Christ Church College as the first location. It wasn’t exactly near to the drop-off point so thank God for technology, I found my way through GPS. I was first greeted by the Meadow before the entrance.
As you walked in, you will see the majestic building and lots of people taking pictures right outside and of course I am also one of them. There is also a brief introduction of the area near the area – you can read up more on the history through the board.
To enter the building and visit the exhibits, you’ll have to pay £$8 (S$14.40). There is quite a bit of thing that you’ll get to see. Check out their official webpage to find out more! And if you would have guessed it – I basically spend my almost 1hour ish just in here. Time is never really enough isn’t it?
I really wish I had more time to explore Oxford as well as the other towns & cities! And not having to miss having a proper lunch along the way (haha! had to grab a sandwich and coffee before going to the pick-up point). This will be one of the reasons to come back and explore more of England! I absolutely loved the towns than the cities – it much quieter and really beautiful sights!
It was a really pleasant and wonderful experience with Rabbie’s & Kevin. I look forward to going on tours with them in the future as well. Thanks for making it so easy and comfortable. Highly recommended :) Below are the some details
